Half of the documents in the four pages in Coming Home concern letters and telegrams to and from Congressman Beckworth. He was a personal friend of the family and his efforts were to make certain that proper military honors were accorded
1st Lt Harold Tyrus Cobb.

Lt Cobb' journey home began with the first form below, Request for Disposition of Remains, dated 7 June 1948. His original burial location was at
US Armed Forces Cemetery, Yokohama #1, Japan.

His remains were first shipped to Oahu and the Armed Forces Mausoleum at Schofield Barracks. There is no mention in his IDPF of when this took place and how long he was in Hawaii. His remains were transported to Fort Mason, San Francisco, or Oakland Army Base by the US Army Transport (USAT) STAR REEFER.

From there he travelled by rail to the Quartermaster Depot in Fort Worth, Texas. His arrival in Gladewater, Texas was scheduled for 12 March 1949. Burial at Ashland Cemetery, Gilmer, Texas, took place that day with full military honors including a flyover by aircraft from Barksdale AFB, Louisiana.

Within his place at the Osaka Virtual Cemetery is an article that
provides details of this ceremony.
