The below photo came to me from a family member.
The date this was taken is not known.

This is followed by the front and back pages of Lt Edman's Registration Card.

On 16 September 1940 President Roosevelt signed the
Selective Training and Service Act.

All males age 21-39 were required to register.
Lt Edman registered on 16 October 1940 .

At the bottom of the page is his Enlistment Record from the NARA online database.

Lt Edman enlisted on 29 September 1942 with the rank of private.
There is no indication that joined the Army Air Force nor that he would become an officer.
