2nd Lt Harry James Foley's remains were buried in Mt Olive Cemetery, Troy, Kansas. The below photo is from the Find-A-Grave web site.

The first step in the process of returning him home was a letter to his mother, Mrs Myrtle Foley, from the Memorial Division of the Quartermaster General. She was informed of his current burial location along with a request to fill in the form stating her desires of where he was to be buried.

Within the last letter on this page is a note to ' make certain that the remains were dispatched to Distribution Center #08 ( Chicago ) after arrival in San Francisco '.

More details of his journey home are in the second page.

The Record of Custodial Transfer indicates that his remains were moved from Yokohama Cemetery #1 to the American Graves Service facility on 20 December 1948. His remains were there until 22 August 1949 when his casket was placed aboard the US Army Transport Cardinal O'Connell.

This tramsport departed Yokohama on 22 August 1949 and arrived at Fort Mason, San Francisco
( San Francisco Port of Embarkation ) on 12 September 1949. From there his remains were ferried across the Bay to Distribution Center #13 ( Oakland Army Base ), arriving by rail in Troy Kansas on 1 October 1949.
