TSgt Alvin Relvue Hart
Osaka Castle
Identification

An excellent summary of the Recovery and Identification of the four members of the 1st Franklin W Crowe crew who survived the 1 June 1945 crash is within page 2 of the Official Documents section.

Two were executed at Osaka Castle while cause of death of the other two could not be determined. TSgt Alvin R Hart is one of the latter.

TSgt Hart's remains were recovered by Team 4 at the Sanadayama Military Cemetery on 24 April 1946. He was initially referred to as X-51 at Osaka and later X-448 at Yokohama.

Confusion in the form of an incorrect Serial Number delayed his identification until June 1946. There was a nearly three year interval between his identification and return home for burial in Burbank, California.
