Sgt Janecek and Sgt Evans survived the ramming and
were captured in the vicinity of the crash.

Both were taken to the Eastern District Kempei Tai Headquarters
located near the Imperial Palace.

According to Sgt Evans' statement,
Sgt Janecek did not receive medical treatment while in captivity
and was was badly abused.

He died on 6 March 1945 at the
Tokyo Temporary First Military Hospital.

His remains were buried in
the Koishikawa Military Cemetery and
recovered on 11 March 1946.

His initial designation was Unknown XX-A.
