Perry, Iowa, is located 20-30 miles northwest of Des Moines, Iowa.

Below the map are the front and back sides of Sgt Nead's Draft Registration Card.
The date on the back side is 14 February 1942.

This is followed by his Enlistment Record stating that he
enlisted on 10 October 1942 in Des Moines.
He was placed in the Enlisted Reserve Corps ( ERC ).

A few documents within his Individual Deceased Personnel File ( IDPF )
state that Pvt Nead
was called to Active Duty on 30 January 1943.

There is no list of his stations.

The following information is from Sgt Pasternak's and Sgt Mc Neill's IDPFs.

They were with the Lt Edward Law Crew and it is possible .
that Sgt Nead joined the Crew at Harvard AAF, Nebraska.

At that time the Law Crew was with the 313th Bomb Wing,
504th Bomb Group, Harvard AAF training as a Replacement Crew.

September 1944 - January 1945 Pyote AAF, Texas

January - February 1945 Kearney AAF, Nebraska
14 February 1945 depart for Mather AAF, Sacramento, California

18 February 1945 depart Mather AAF for Saipan
Arrive Saipan late February 1945.

Their B-29 was lost during
73rd Bomb Wing Mission Number 37
the night of 1-2 April 1945.

Lt Law did not survive the crash but
the other ten men were able to parachute to safety.
