Sgt Pasternak's remains were disinterred from the Tokyo Military Prison on 18 February 1946.
Formal identification took place on 19 April 1949.

Most of the documents in this section focus on the year 1949.

The first document is a letter sent to Sgt Ray Hopper,
the only member of the Law Crew to survive.

He is requested to provide information about
the other members of the Law Crew.

Following the letter are several documents either
recommending or approving Sgt Pasternak's identification.

The two page Identification Checklist, dated 1 April 1949,
provides a very clear and concise summary of the steps taken to identify Sgt Pasternak.

Also included is information concerning the crash
and the fate of each crew member.
