A story from
Robert McNamara
September 2022 I have attached a photo of a picture that I have on the wall of my home. The glass is curved, so there is a lot of reflection. It has an amazing story. An unemployed man saw the gold star my mom had in the window and inquired if mom would like to have her son's picture framed. She gave him a photo and a little money. She told me that when dad came home and she told him about it, he remarked that she would never see the money or the picture. But the man returned with the picture colorized and framed. Looking at the back, it is obvious that the frame is pieced together from scrap wood, likely from fruit crates that grocery stores used in those days. But the framer mounted stars and flags and painted it, and also used curved glass!! It is my favorite heirloom. |
