SSgt Billy Joe Brown

Missing Air Crew Report
14337

There are 27 pages in the Missing Air Crew Report ( MACR ) 14337.
The first four are presented here.

The remaining pages in the complete MACR have the
two versions of the Emergency Rescue Report.

The first page of the MACR states the names of the crew members.
Their initial statu is handwritten next to the far left column.
At a later date their status was updated as shown in the right column.

RTD = Returned to Duty

Five of the men are listed as KIA on the left side.
This is changed to MIA at the right.

Four of these men were never seen again following their bailing out of the B-29.

The fifth was SSgt Billy Joe Brown. He survived the bailout but was captured on
Oshima Island located about 20 miles to the north of the ditching site.
He was taken to Western District Army Headquarters in Fukuoka and
executed on 20 June 1945.

The bottom half of Page 2 of the MACR has a section for Remarks and
Eye Witness Reports.

Presented are details of what crew members from other B-29s saw.

Below this page is the list of Next of Kin.

The final page is the beginning of the Emergency Rescue Report.
