On this page you will find Lt Nelson's DISINTERMENT DIRECTIVE and
RECORD OF CUSTODIAL TRANSFER.

The dates in these two documents are a bit confusing
but his remains did arrive at Fort Mason on 30 January 1950.

Lt Nelson's cremated remains were placed in an urn
that had been engraved in San Francisco.

The final four documents on this page concern the
approval and wording of the engraving which
was completed on 15 February 1950.
