In the map from Missing Air Crew Report ( MACR ) 14593 is an X
noting the location where the B-29 flown by Lt Franklin Crowe went down.

This is one example of erroneous information leading to
the incorrect location where the aircraft actually crashed.

Following the map are pages from the MACR as well as
one from the 73rd Bomb Wing Mission Report.

The teletype message includes the words underlined in BLUE in Paragraph 4

INTERCEPTS OF CONFUSED REPORTS ....

The B-29 had been hit by flak over or close to Osaka and was seen to lose altitude.

All of the below documents focus on the incorrect reports and Air Sea Rescue operations.

The actual location of the crash was close to Mt Sanjo south east of Osaka.
