Lt Houghton's first step in returning to his home town of Marion, Ohio, was a letter from General Larkin to his father, Ellis Houghton. Along with this letter was the form Request for Disposition of Remains.
Both the letter and the form are dated 19 March 1948.

Page 2 contains documents concerning his remains being transferred from U S Armed Forces Cemetery Yokohama to Marion Ohio.

The Record of Custodial Transfer has his remains departing Yokohama on 17 January 1949 on board US Army Transport Star Reefer. The ship arrived at Fort Mason, San Francisco, on 18 February 1949 and his remains were transported by rail to the Distribution Center at Columbus Ohio.

The final document on Page 2 is Receipt of Remains. The date is 16 March 1949 with actual arrival in Marion Ohio 21 March 1949. At the bottom is the signature of the 1st Lt who served as his escort.
