In early October 2021, I contacted Dave's son, Dave
Thomas, Jr,
and asked if his dad could write a paragraph or two. Below is the email Dave Jr sent me after talking to his dad. Dave Thomas was on the Helena at both Pearl Harbor and Kula Gulf. As of this date, 1 December 2021, at 99 he is the second oldest known living USS Helena survivor from the Pearl Harbor Attack. |
