They Were There

Albert Lawrence Lucchetti

Albert Lawrence Lucchetti came on board the Helena 29 November 1940.

His daughter, Sharlien Harrington, has allowed me to
use many photos from the Albert Lawrence Lucchetti Collection.

He was in the Fourth Division and most of
the photos are his shipmates from this division.

" During Japanese attack performed duties in accord with the highest Naval Tradition "

Dad had already submitted a request to transfer to submarine duty.

Jim asked what he did during the attack.

Dad said he was topside feeding 50 caliber shells standing
in the open as others were behind the shelter.
It was at this point that John Pensyl was shot through the throat.

25 April 1942 transferred to submarine training school, New London, Connecticut .
