Two pages from Lt Giddings' IDPF
detail the transfer of his remains from
United States Armed Forces ( USAF ) Cemetery Yokohama #1
to
The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific
Lt Giddings' remains were disinterred from the Yokohama Cemetery
in February 1949 and transported to
the American Graves Registration Service ( AGRS ) facility
at the Port of Yokohama.
They were there until 17 September 1949
when they were placed on board the
U S Army Transport ( USAT ) Daniel I Sultan.
By 7 October 1949 his remains arrived on
Oahu and Distribution Center 64, most likely Fort Shafter.
Interment took place 3 November 1949.
Beneath these documents is a letter to Mrs Giddings
stating that she would be receiving a form
requesting her wishes for her son's grave marker.
