Lt McSpadden's remains were recoverd at
Sanadayama Military Cemetery on 16 April 1946.
Two teams, III and IV, from the
3064th Quartermaster Graves Registration Company were involved.
The coordinates in
Report of Disinterment for Identification.
are the same
as the sketch in Page 1.
Lt McSpadden was not identified at this time and
his remains were listed as Unknown X-26.
Once his remains arrived at
United States Armed Forces ( USAF ) Cemetery Yokohama #1,
these were redesignated as X-407.
Within the white rectangle are items related to
his formal identification in 1949.
Paragraph 4 contains information that differs from
other reports concerning his execution.
Some of these state that he was executed by decapitation.

The Report of Recovery
is easier to read and includes the
Laundry Mark on a t-shirt, M-3233.
Lt McSpadden's serial number ends in 3232.
This difference caused delays to his idenfitication.

Included is the name of the Japanese man
who was present at the execution.
Beginning with Page 1, Paragraph 4, in the third document ,
the recovery of the five remains in this grave site is summarized.
At the bottom of Page 2, Paragraph 7 ,
the fourth remains were not identifiable and were designated X-26.
The last document contains information from a statement made by
Kenzo Nagao who was present at the executions.
