Emma Louise Shiber Matz was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on 12 April 1920.
She lived there until 1971 when she moved to Fairfax, Virginia.

Her father, Urban Leo Shiber, died in Fairfax in 1974.

Her husband, Robert J Matz, was born in Butler, Pennsylvania on 7 July 1918.
He died 9 June 2004.

Emma attended Central High School, Johnstown, and graduated in 1938.

Robert graduated from Butler High School in 1936 and
in 1940 was living in Johnstown.

He enlisted in the US Army on 18 October 1941 at Fort Meade.

At an unknow date he became a 2nd Lt .

** Emma and Robert were married 14 September 1943

On 16 February 1950 he submitted the Pennsylvania Application for World War II Compensation.

In there are a few dates of his service.

On the back are the names of the first three of their six children.
The oldest is Robert J Matz, Jr, age 5.

Emma died in 2005 and in her obituary is statement she was
pre deceased by her husband of 60 years.
Their marriage likely took place in 1944.

Emma and Robert are inured at Arlington National Cemetery.
