Correspondence

In the first letter, Lt Col Metz of the Memorial Divison, Quartermaster Corps,
outlines the recovery and tentative identification of Mr Shiber's son.

In page 2 he qualifies this identification and requests Mr Shiber's opinion.

The next letter is handwritten by Mr Shiber.
In there he uses the phrase " We feel....the information is so vague ..."

He was making decisions with his daughters Mary Agnes and Emma Louise.

The last letter, dated 28 September 1948, is from Col Metz
and he provides specific details of how Sgt Shiber died.

" ...we prefer to refrain as much as possible from furnishing information
which may be the cause of added pain..."

The sequence continues to Page 3 with a letter dated 16 November 1948.
