The first news that Sgt Sparks' family received of his
Missing in Action status
was a telegram sent on 14 June 1945.

This is noted in the
Battle Casualty Report dated 31 May 1945.

The newspaper clipping is related to the
Finding of Death of Missing Person dated 6 May 1946.

This document is issued one year and one day
following the date the man was declared Missing in Action.

Sgt Sparks' remains were in the process of being identified at this time
