The correspondence in this section covers the period from 30 July
1945 through 26 May 1947.
Mrs Pearl Strong wrote several letters to various people in the Office
of the Quartermaster General.
A common theme in her letters is confusion with communications coming
from the US Army.
Part of this is due to the initial confusion in Missing Air Crew Report
14593 that
states that the Crowe Crew ditched 90 miles out at sea.
Sgt Strong was identified in early April 1946.
Mrs Strong learned that her son was in a grave in
Yokohama and had questions of how he got there.
Mrs Strong was anxious to learn exactly what had taken place with
her son.
The Battle Casualty Report notes that a telegram
was sent to Mr Herbert Strong on 27 June 1945.
Following this is the first letter written on 30 July 1945 concerning
her son's effects.
This information could have come from either the
497th Bomb Group or the Effects Bureau of the Quartermaster Corps.
