This sequence of documents runs from 25 June 1945 through 11 March
1949.
In June 1945 the first of four Battle Casualty Reports ( BCR )
was issued and a telegram sent to Sgt Strong's father.
His son's status is Missing in Action.
As you look at the three BCRs that follow,
you will notice differences in wording that provide a
clue and correction to the Crowe Crew ditiching out at sea.
A Finding of Death was issued on 2 June 1946.
Below this is a page explaining the words " Public Law 490 ".
Sgt Strong had been identified at the Sanadayama Military Cemetery
in early April 1946 and it seems that the paper work
had not reached the War Department by June.
On 17 June 1946 the second BCR was issued,
with a Special Letter sent to the family on 2 July 1946.
Sgt Strong's status is changed to Killed in Action
with the location being coordinates out at sea.
His date of death is stated as 1 June 1945.
There is a notation that new information had been received
since the Finding of Death issued 2 June 1946.
