The initial report was required to be filed within
48-72 hours following a B-29's failure to return to Saipan.
The crews' status would be MIA ( Missing in Action ).
TSgt Louis Vance was the only one to survive the war.
He was captured by a Japanese Naval unit and
transfered to the Omori POW Camp.
Post War, his status in the MACR was updated
to EUS ( Evacuated to the United States ).
Within this MACR is another document titled
S. R. & D. No. 5785.
( Status Review and Determination )
Following the second page of the MACR are two partial and one complete

Paragraph 2 begins the bottom of one page and continues to the top
of the next.
Paragraph 6 begins with Crew 3. ( the Latimer Crew ).
In February 1946 TSgt Louis Vance submitted
details concerning the loss of V-23 and the crew.
The last document is from Sgt Ellingson's IDPF and
is titled Report of Death
