Below are documents from 1945 and 1946.
In Page 2 are documents from 1948.

The first Battle Casualty Report was issued 26 April 1945,
three weeks following crash of the B-29.
Lt Van Dever's status was Missing In Action.

Recoveries of remains at the
Tokyo Military Prison took place from 14-21 February 1946.

A Finding of Death was issued one year and one day
following status of Missing in Action.

Lt Van Dever's presumed date of death is stated as 3 April 1946

A second Battle Casualty Report was issued on 17 June 1946.
Lt Van Dever's status was changed to
Killed in Action.

While he had not been identified, he was known to have been
at the Tokyo Military Prison the night of 25-26 May 1945.

This is reflected in the sentence:
" Based on information received since the Finding of Death was issued. "
There is a notation that a letter had been sent on 2 July 1946.

This letter is not in Lt Van Dever's IDPF.

The last document is a Report of Death issued on 8 July 1946.
Note that Lt Van Dever's date of death is stated as
2 April 1945, the date of the crash.

His date of entry on Current Active Service is 20 May 1944.
This was the date that Lt Van Dever was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant.
