Most of the documents in this section are from the
73rd Bomb Wing and 497th Bomb Group Mission Reports.

These were scanned by Jim Bowman at the Maryland National Archives during 2012-2014

Below are three pages from Field Order 81, Mission Osaka Charlie, issued by XXI Bomber Command.
In there are a few details concerning each Wing that took part in this mission to the Osaka Urban Area.

The following pages have charts and documents concerning the Mission.

The 497th Bomb Group was designated as V606 on this mission and
the B-29 flown by Lt Crowe ( A-16) was 16V606.

Initial reports during this mission contained contained inaccurate
information that led to further confusion in reports
submitted within a few days after the mission.

These inaccuracies had A-16 ditching ~60-90 miles out to sea.

This problem would not be resolved until the
December 1945 report from the I & R Platoon.

This document appears in the

Crew Section

and
details the steps taken to locate the crash site on Mount Sanjo.
