These three letters along with documents in the
Recovery and Official
Documents
sections
are examples of what took place with the early identifications.
It was found that there were some errors made in these identifications,
such as by using only dog tags and laundry marks.
Later the process became more formal, utilizing forensic methods.
Sgt Wright's remains were recovered in Chiba on 29 March 1946.
His initial identification was made during the first week of April
1946
Formal identification did not take place until March 1947.
