Find-A- Grave

Lt Warde's remains were recovered from the
Chiba City Cemetery on 29 March 1946.
His remains were officially identified on 3 March 1947.

There is reference to a letter written to Mrs Warde
from the Adjutant General on 4 April 1946
informing her that her son died of wounds.

Please note that Lt Warde had not been identified at this time
and that all the information was from Japanese sources.

The letter to Mrs Warde dated 14 June 1946
from the Office of the Quartermaster General states :
" units of American Graves Registration Service searching for
remains.
No report that her son has been recovered. "

The last letter dated 12 September 1946 was written by
Mrs Warde to the Memorial Section of the Office of the Quartermaster
General.
She provided information that may help to identify her son.

Throughout this period Mrs Warde was advised that
she would be notified once her son had been formally identified.
