Sgt Charles Richard Weiser was born and raised in Orrville, Ohio.
His parents were
Clyde L Weiser ( 4 May 1886 - 22 November 1955 )
and
Helen A Moran Weiser ( 28 July 1884 - 5 April 1977 ).
They were married on 2 May 1909.

Their first child was Helen Edna born in 1922.
Charles was born on 19 September 1925.

From US Census data, Mr Weiser's occupation was first
as a shoe salesman and later he owned his own store.
In 1936 he was the Postmaster at Orrville.

Charles Weiser attended Orrville High School and graduated in 1943.
He was quite active during these years and
in 1939 was on the football team, most likely the Junior Varsity.

In the 1943 yearbook Charles ' Dick ' Weiser stated that
he wanted to become a chemical engineer.

Following his graduation,
Charles Weiser attended Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana.

At this time Tri-State's focus was on accelerated courses in
Engineering and Business to support the war effort.

He was there for a few months until
his induction on 22 December 1943.

His first station was the
Reception Center at Fort Hayes in Columbus, Ohio.

In late January 1944 he was transferred to
Keesler Army Air Field, Biloxi, Mississippi, for four weeks of basic training.

His trail stops there and does not resume until November 1944.

Sgt Weiser's name is in the 3 November 1944 Operations Order
issued at Mather Field, California,
with the Lt Stanley H Samuelson Crew.

Their destination was Saipan.
