First is a photo and article concerning the 1939 football team.
Charles Weiser is wearing jersey number 40 in the back row.

The next article, dated 24 January 1944, lists the names of 53 inductees
who were at Fort Hayes, Columbus, Ohio.

Sgt Weiser was one of eight who were
assigned to Keesler Field in Mississippi.

This was around the time that the four Bomb Groups
of the 73rd Bomb Wing were being formed.

Sgt Weiser was a Central Fire Control ( CFC ) Gunner
with the Samuelson Crew.
Most likely he began gunnery training following
the four weeks of basic training at Keesler.
