Maps and Navigation

The first map shows the planned track from Kofu ( Initial Point )
to the Primary Target at Musashino.

The initial point is abbreviated IP and is the beginning of the bomb run.


Weather conditions caused the B-29s of the 500th Bomb Group to switch to the
Secondary Target at the Tokyo Dock Area.

This is shown in the second map.

The Radar Counter Measure ( RCM ) track shows part of
the route flown from Saipan to Tokyo and the route back.

There were three B-29s scanning frequencies to first
locate Japanese Anti Aircraft and then jam them.

In the 73rd Bomb Wing Report are pages with the
coordinates to be flown to and from
the target by each Bomb Group.

In Paragraph 7 are the coordinates to be flown by
the 500th Bomb Group on the way to the Initial Point ( IP ) at Kofu.

This is followed by a track with coordinates of
several waypoints to and from Japan.

Last is a Radial map with the distances from
the Primary target at Musashino out to 26 miles.

Outlined are Musashino and Hachioji.
Hachioji is the area where Sgt Weiser parachuted.
