SSgt Carl T Wells' journey home began on 31 October 1947
with a letter to his father from
Major General Thomas Larkin, The Quartermaster General.

General Larkin outlined the choices that Mr Wells had and
stated that a Pamphlet was enclosed explaining the process.

This form is titled
Request for Disposition of Remains.

Mr Wells signed it on 6 November 1947.

Next is the Disinterment Directive.

SSgt Well's remains were disintered from
USAF Cemetery Yokohama #1 on 18 August 1948.

This is followed by the
Record of Custodial Transfer
listing in chronlogical order each step of
transporting SSgt Wells' remains.

His remains were transported from the Yokohama Cemetery to the
American Graves Registration Service Port Facility
at Yokohama on 19 August 1948.

On 29 September 1948 they were placed on board the Dalton Victory.

The Dalton Victory departed Yokohama on 20 November 1948 and
arrived at either Fort Mason, San Francisco,
or the Oakland Army Base,
on 1 December 1948.

The remainder of his journey took place by rail
from Oakland to the Distribution Center Number 6 ( DC# 6 )
at Memphis, Tennessee.
