Lt Wittee's remains were transported from Yokohama to Oahu on
the US Army Transport General W.F. Hase.

Lt Wittee's remains were disinterred on 28 August 1948 at Yokohama
Cemetery #1.
The date at the top right of the form, 15 January 1949,
is most likely the date that the form was filled out.
Following this document is the Record of Custodial Transfer.
The first entry is the transfer from Yokohama Cemetery #1 to
the American Graves Registration Service ( AGRS ) Port facility
at Yokohama on 26 August 1948.
Lt Wittee's remains were there until 21 February 1949 when
they were placed aboard USAT W F General Hase.
The General Hase departed Yokohama that day and arrived at Oahu 14
March 1949.
Burial at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific took place
18 March 1949
Beneath the Record of Custodial Transfer is a letter
to Mr Robert Witte from Major General H Feldman, The Quartermaster
General.
In this letter, Mr Witte is informed that his son's remains are now
at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
The last document is a form requesting Mr Witte's preference for
the religious emblem on his son's grave marker.
