The Timeline is provided to assist in clarification of back and forth
dates that you will encounter in Coming Home.
Sgt Strong's remains were recovered and identified in early April
1946 at the
Sanadayama Military Cemetery, Osaka.
At an unknown date his remains were transfered to
United States Armed Forces ( USAF ) Cemetery or Mausoleum in Yokohama.
Correpsondence with his parents began in June 1948 with the
below letter from Major General Thomas B Larkin, the Quartermaster
General.
Included with this letter was the form
Request for Disposition of Remains.
Sgt Strong's remains were transferred from the Cemetery at Yokohama
to
the American Graves Registration Port Facility at Yokohama on 26 August
1948.
This is the begining of a series of correspondence between
his parents and the Quartermaster General.
On 9 September 1948 a second letter was sent to Mr Herbert Strong
requesting corrections in the Request for Disposition of Remains form.
Those corrections are noted with red pencil.
Sgt Strong's remains were to be buried at the National Memorial Cemetery
of the Pacific.
These corrections were returned to the Quartermaster General around
6 January 1949.
