Below are two photos of the crew followed by
a story from John Lehnen of how their
second B-29's nickname became Margie Lou.

The one page of Sgt Wall's list of stations in his IDPF
ends in December 1943.

He was at Smoky Hill AAF, Salina, Kansas, from
early October to 9 December 1943 with the 58th Bomb Wing.

The last entry in this list of stations is a transfer to
Clovis AAF, New Mexico, on 10 December 1943.

His name appears as Pfc John N Wall in
two rosters of the 499th Bomb Group at Clovis AAF, New Mexico,
in February and March 1944.

This would have been the time when he most likely joined the Newell Crew.

In April 1944 the 499th Bomb Group
was transferred to Smoky Hill AAF at Salina, Kansas.
