Chiba Hospital

Elements of Doubt
Page 2

During 2019 one of my projects was to create
burial spreadsheets for men from the
Four Bomb Groups of the 73rd Bomb Wing.

THE 55
comes from that work.

My entry for Lt Henry H Warde states Death by Lethal Injection while a POW.
I cannot find the source of this information in my files.

Below is a screen shot from the Mansell Pacific POW database.
Lt Warde's cause of death is listed as
Executed.

Based on information from Wes Injerd, Lt Warde was not poisoned.

Within Lt Warde's IDPF is the Appendix from Recovery Team 4.

The information in this report was from Japanese in Chiba City
and some of this
is vague and contradictory.

See Page 3

Lt Warde's mother, Mrs Lillian Warde,
was in communication both with the
families of other crew members
as well as the Quartermaster Corps.

One of her letters is below and is followed
by one from the American Legion.

Both question that
her son was seriously injured following
his parachuting out of the B-29.

Statements from crew who survived captivity are in
the part of Missing Air Crew Report ( MACR )
titled S.R. & D.

These follow along the same lines.

This document is in the
MACR
section.

In addition to the above mentioned Appendix,
pages from Major Goldsworthy' Oral History and
Jim Bowman's Day by Day are in Page 3
