The original Missing Air Crew Report ( MACR ) at
Fold3 is extremenly difficult to read.

This version is from Sgt Janecek's IDPF.

The MACR was required to be filed
within 48 hours of a B-29's failure to return to base.

Included are Weather Conditions and
details of the B-29's engines and weapons.

At the bottom is a list of each crew member and his status.

The initial MACR would state each crew member's status
as Missing in Action ( MIA ).

Updates would be added as additional information became available.

Nine of the men were updated to Killed in Action.

Sgt Janecek parachuted safely to land,
was captured and taken to the Kempei Tai Head Quarters.
Most likely because of illness or a lack of medical attention
he was transferred to a Military Hospital.
He died there and was buried in the Koishikawa Military Cemetery.

His remains were recovered and identified.
His status is Died Of Wounds ( DOW )
while a
Prisoner of War of the Japanese Government.

Sgt Weiser parachuted out of the B-29 and safely landed
in the vicinity of Ongata Village.
He was killed by locals and buried in or near a temple.
He is considered to be a Prisoner of War.

Sgt Evans was the sole survivor.

Following the MACR are two pages from
POW Research Network's Tobu Army District Report.

The Samuelson Crew begins at the bottom of
the first page and continues to the second page.

Capt Samuelson is the only member of the crew
who died in the crash that is mentioned.

The locations of the crash site and where
the three survivors were captured are stated.

Sgt Evans and Sgt Weiser landed in
the same area at Ongata-mura ( Ongata Village )
