Below is a sequence of telegrams and day letters
updating Lt Sisson's status during his journey home.

First is a Western Union Day letter date stamped 31 May 1949.
" 1st Lt Paul Sisson remains are enroute to the United States "

On 2 June 1949 Mr Sisson sent a telegram confirming
that his instructions were correct.

A Day Letter, dated 28 June 1949, from the Chicago Quartermaster Depot,
notified Ft Leavenworth National Cemetery
that Lt Sisson's remains were ready for delivery.

This is followed by a telegram dated 5 July 1949.
The Superintendent of Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery informed the
Chicago QMC Depot of the date and time of funeral services

The final document is the
Receipt of Remains.
Details of shipment and arrival are included.

Remains will be shipped on the Missouri Pacific Rail Road ( MP RR ) .

At the bottom left corner is the signature of Lt Sisson's Escort.
No rank is stated.

The protocol at the time required that the escort be an
Officer of Equal or Greater Rank.
