The first step in Sgt Walk's return home was a letter to
his father from the
Memorial Division of the Quartermaster Corps ( QMC ).
Mr Walk was informed that his son's remains had been identified.
His remains were initially buried at
United States Armed Forces ( USAF ) Cemetery #1 in Yokohama.
They were later transfered to USAF Mausoleum #2 Yokohama.
Mr Walk was also informed of the document
Request of Disposition of Remains.
In this form he stated that he wanted his son to be buried
at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Mitchell County, Iowa.

Note:
This cemetery is now known as St John's Lutheran Cemetery.
At the time of Sgt Walk's burial it was called
St John's Rock Creek.
