On 21 July 1948 Mrs Warde was informed that the form
Request for Disposition of Remains
had been received by the Quartermaster Corps.
She was also provided with information of
what would be taking place in the future.
This is follwed by the Disinterment Directive.
Lt Warde's remains were first disinterred at
Yokohama on 18 August 1948.
The date of this is report 15 November 1948.

SSgt Wells and Sgt Wright's remains
departed Yokohama for Fort Mason, San Francisco,
on 20 November 1948,
arriving 2 December 1948.
There is no documentation of when, why, or how
Lt Warde's remains
were transported to
Army Mausoleum Number 3 at Schofield Barracks
Hawaii

On 1 December 1948 Mrs Warde wrote a letter to The Quartermaster
General.
In there she stated that SSgt Wells' father was notified on
22 November 1948 that his son's remains were on the way to Missouri.
In previous correspondence she had been notified
that her son's remains would most likely return in the Fall.

Lt Warde's casket was marked and boxed on 19 January 1949.
His Record of Custodial Transfer begins 31 January 1949
at Army Mausoleum Number 3, Oahu.
His remains were placed on board
United States Army Transport ( USAT ) Dalton Victory 14 February 1949.
The Dalton Victory arrived at Fort Mason, San Francsico, on 16 February
1949.
From there his remains were transported by rail to
Distribution Center #1, Brooklyn, New York,
arriving 2 March 1949.
